Getting ready to make her Chinese Lantern

Tonight we were invited by some friends to a Chinese pot luck sponsored by the language school their two daughters attend in Zeeland.  The food was great and they had several crafts for the kids and some of the classes performed traditional Chinese dance for us.  There were several Chinese exchange students there as well and one performed a beautiful dance and the other played an instrument (can't remember what it was and as of right now, I am unable to upload the videos.

Dear Pam,
Carissa seems to really enjoy arts and crafts. If you have time this summer, I wanted to tell you about an opportunity for your whole family to be able to help the orphaned children in China. Half the Sky Foundation has organized a fun, easy, family-oriented Art-a-Thon fund raiser to be held this summer. We hope that you will join us and participate in our first ever Art-a-Thon fund raiser. We would also love for you to spread the word about the Half the Sky Art-a-Thon on your blog site. Thank you in advance for your help in getting the word out about our newest fund raiser for the children in China. If you have any questions, please send them to artwork@halfthesky.org. Thank you!

CREATE ART...RAISE MONEY...SPONSOR A CHILD

In honor of International Children’s Day (June 1), Half the Sky is pleased to announce the first-ever Art-a-Thon for Half the Sky, taking place now through August 31st. Parents - this could be a great summer activity for your kids …. and it’s for a wonderful cause!

Calling all children and adults who love to draw, paint, sculpt or do any kind of art!! We are inviting YOU to create art inspired by this year’s theme of “Playing Together.” Then recruit sponsors for your artistic efforts. $600 in funds raised will provide you an exclusive “Somebody Loves Me” sponsorship for an orphaned child in China for one year. $100 in funds raised will provide a month of support for a HTS-trained nanny to cuddle, guide, play with and provide consistent loving care for 3-5 infants in the Baby Sisters Infant Nurture Program. Ask for donations from all your friends and family and feel great about helping orphaned children in China who are waiting for their forever families. Collecting pledge donations can be as easy as a “click of a button” if you use our online donations page. After your art is complete, email us a digital photo and we’ll include it in our online Art-A-Thon exhibit in September. Detailed information about this fun and easy Art-A-Thon can be found at www.halfthesky.org/art/d.php. Register now to qualify for Art-a-Thon prizes. It’s time to join Half the Sky supporters around the world for the first ever International Art-a-Thon for orphaned children in China.

Half the Sky was created in order to enrich the lives and enhance the prospects for orphaned children in China. They establish and operate infant nurture and preschool programs, provide personalized learning for older children and establish loving permanent foster care, medical care and guidance for children with disabilities. It is their goal to ensure that every orphaned child has a caring adult in her life and a chance at a bright future. Learn more about Half the Sky at www.halfthesky.org.
